Xercise4Less transformed into JD Gyms – Fitness Just Got Serious

As the creators of the award-winning JD Gyms concept, and design partners in the ongoing roll-out across the UK, we are continuing our long-standing relationship with JD by transforming the entire Xercise4Less estate into JD Gyms.

Following JD Gyms acquisition of Xercise4Less at the end of 2020, the ambitious transformation of the majority of the estate is nearing completion. Delivering conversions of all sites within phases throughout the year, we now have 27 transformed sites.

Designed by the Briggs Hillier team, all sites have undergone a complete reconfiguration, refit and upgrade to bring them in line with what customers have come to expect from a JD Gym.

With the Xercise4Less estate consisting of diverse sites where the layout and proportions did not align with the JD Gym customer/member journey, our team have had to re-think and replan every gym to deliver consistency with the hugely successful JD Gyms concept. In addition to transforming the look and feel of retained areas and adding new spaces such as the spin studios and burn studios. The free weights area has been revolutionised and increased in size across every gym. Studios and cardio areas have also been updated, and every gym has received a jewel in the crown Elekio Function and lifting area.

Utilising the UK lockdown periods over the past year, we were able to refurbish a significant amount of the sites while closed, ready to greet members when they returned, while part of the transformation works on the ‘summer’ clubs has been carried out while still trading in order to minimise disruption to the members.

The latest 8 JD Gyms sites to have opened this month include Milton Keynes, the largest conversation to date, where the 34,000 sq. ft 2 floor site has been fully remodelled creating a space that is unrecognisable from its former life as an Xercise4Less, and a Mega Club in Hull – the city where JD Gyms was born 5 years ago… and saw an emotional closing of the doors on the very first site we opened!

Alongside this we also have many more new clubs on site and on the drawing board, as the chain continues to grow from strength to strength. Bigger, better and even stronger than ever before.

Watch this space for more sites to come!
