South African Treehouse in London

Virgin holidays builds 35-foot luxury treehouse in central London Passers-by London’s Southbank this week may be surprised by an unexpected sight towering above the river’s edge. Virgin holidays has created a 35 foot high luxury south African treehouse, and is offering competition winners an overnight stay in the urban retreat.

Drawing reference from the lion sands game reserve in south Africa, the dwelling is stilted on giant trunks and is supported by a greenery-clad plinth. Two elevated huts are made from natural materials and resemble authentic accommodation found in the African plains. Inside, the temporary residence comprises two bespoke bedrooms designed by Hubert zandberg, whose interiors feature a selection of tribal prints, a plush four post bed and several rare pieces of African sculpture.
