Nurturing the design talent of the future

In his role as external examiner for the University of Huddersfield, Adrian spent a day with BA (Hons) Interior Design students, sharing his insights into how to successfully work in the industry.

Adrian took students through his own personal journey since co-founding Briggs Hillier back in 2000. He explained the importance of understanding clients – and in turn their customers – as well as the strategic and research elements which are essential for a successful project. Key subjects included the importance of a fluid customer journey, how to effectively reflect a brand’s personality, the best ways to meet a brief and appealing to a target audience.

Turning a concept into a realistic, commercially viable project takes knowhow and innate understanding. With this in mind, Adrian also had a one-to-one with all the students on the course, giving them valuable feedback and guidance on their final projects.

As brand and retail design specialists, our ongoing collaboration with the Interior Design course at Huddersfield is hugely important to us, nurturing young talent and helping to pave the way for a bright future for the retail design industry.
