A Remarkable Year at Briggs Hillier

2024 in Review: Designing Dynamic Spaces, Curating Brand Experiences, Staying Connected & Investing in our Team

We completed over 70 projects this year, translating to over 700,000 square feet and over 40 retail and leisure spaces, worldwide!

From helping to transform JD Westfield Stratford into a store with the highest turnover and footfall across the group’s global portfolio to designing Lane7’s first overseas competitive entertainment venue in Berlin, as well as venues more locally including Altrincham and Milton Keynes (with more sites in the pipeline!), 2024 has been nothing short of remarkable.

We introduced an elevated Crocs concept in Wuhan, China, that captures the evolving growth of global markets and illustrated ‘confidence in simplicity’ with a new adidas branded space design exclusive to JD – among several other global adidas projects that we are excited to share with you in 2025!

We continued to support JD Gyms’ unstoppable expansion by applying our game-changing concept to gyms up and down the country, and continued to transform schuh stores into contemporary, dynamic spaces that capture the individualism of schuh.

As well as watching our retail concept for HeyDude come to life in North America, we worked closely with the rising footwear brand to refine the concept for global markets and its evolving brand direction – developing guidelines for seamless implementation.

Not to mention our unforgettable trip to Mumbai earlier in the year where we visited our India-based client to kick-off a store concept design project that we hope to share very soon!

Alongside creating exceptional brand experiences for our clients, we have re-invested our success into the beating heart of Briggs Hillier, our talented design team. This year, we’ve celebrated eight internal promotions, recognised two incredible 10-year milestones, welcomed five new team members to support our growth, and implemented a new studio structure that highlights our dedicated leadership team.

We also remained committed to staying connected, attending The Design Effect by the DBA, the VM & Display Show, Creative Retail Awards, POPAI’s AI in Retail seminar, Clerkenwell Design Week, Milan Design Week, Birmingham Design Festival, and Vitra’s magnificent design playground in the German town of Weil am Rhein, courtesy of JD.

Meanwhile, we also produced 26 editions of our popular insight publication, Snapshot, which rounds up the latest consumer experiences from across the globe, and invited future partners and suppliers to our HQ in a series of ‘Lunch & Learns’ where we learned about an array of innovative materials and digital solutions that we could apply to our designs.

Our team also attended University Degree Shows to discover the new design talent entering the industry, and collaborated with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Lincoln to host “Live Brief Modules” – a ‘Next Generation’ initiative which saw our designers brief students with a design project similar to one that might enter our studio.

As we wind down for the year and prepare to spend some time with family and friends, we’d just like to say a huge thank you to our clients, connections, partners and suppliers for making 2024 such a good one. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone at Briggs Hillier!
